Russell Jeavons owns and runs a very special place in the town of Willunga, south of Adelaide.

Since 1992 "Russell's", occupying a rambling old Welsh cottage on High Street, has become a culinary institution, serving a delighted public with hand-crafted pizzas, fresh local produce and mouth-watering desserts. It is open for Friday night dinners only, unless Russell (chef, maitre d' & disc jockey) has a private function booked for another night and has a few tables to spare.

Russell's is the kind of place where friends and family gather to eat within sight of the golden, glowing kitchen; where the garden is equipped with warming braziers and outdoor fire pits for chatting, relaxing, and munching. Dining at Russell's is a truly extraordinary experience: great food, a uniquely informal environment, the charm of the bush "Ballroom," fires being stoked, an army of confident-yet-courteous teenaged staff, Russell's eclectic music filling the night air, kids running feral. The process surrounds you; and there's a complete removal of the wall between the servers and the served. (REMO'esque?).

We first introduced CustOMERs to Russell's when we started selling its/his legendary Dukkah back in 2004. Unfortunately, due to a shortage of Willunga almonds, we had to discontinue the Dukkah at the end of 2005.

This time around we thought we'd offer you the actual blueprints!

In Your Brick Oven Russell shares his passion and knowledge of building, firing and cooking for crowds according to ancient traditions. With the help of photographs and diagrams his step-by-step guide takes you through all the stages of building an oven, from choosing a site to firing up for your first bake. Includes recipes for bread, roast lamb, pizza and desserts.
